I just got called to be over Personal Progress a few months ago and once a year they have a big celebration on the talents and goals for the girls. I love putting together a good party, but as most of you know there is really not much of a budget, so I had to make a lot of things and use things I already had. I made all the banners by cutting out different color letters for each value. I used the cricut machine.
I got these fun 8×10 value posters from www.etsy.com its a download only so I just had them printed and mounted. I also did small 5×7 with this years theme on them with the PP motto on the back for the girls to take home. I printed little wallet size PP cards with the link on the back to where they could start the program online. I wanted to really encourage them to start marking their progress online.
I got the image for that card from here. I just added polkadots to go with our theme. www.prodigitalphotos.com printed and cut them into that cute shape for me. They aren’t on the website yet so you just have to ask for the ornate shape. I found the little name stands and polkadot boxes and some cute gold candle holders www.weddingfavorsource.com.
For the flower arrangements, I just spray pained glass jars gold and got some faux flowers from hobby lobby at 50% off and spray pained some of them gold. I used some real sunflowers. I am by no means a florist so don’t judge.
Backdrop is from www.pepperlu.com called gold pin drop. I just added the banners. Our theme this year was “who I am” All about who the girls are individually.
We got all the frames from Ikea and spry painted them gold. And for a PP activity to get ready for the night of excellence we had 3 different stations. One of the stations I took all the girls pictures, then another station another leader interviewed all the girl and videotaped them asking them which value best described them. We played that at night of excellence. And had two other stations where they could pass of PP.
If you want some AMAZING prints, you should go to www.persnicketyprints.com I got the metallic prints and the detail is awesome. I even got them wet on accident and they are totally waterproof and dried just fine.
There is only so much you can do to make a church gymnasium look good
This is my friend Connies Recipe and its super easy and DELISH!!
1 pkg. yellow cake mix
1 pkg. instant chocolate pudding (3.9 oz.)
1/2 c. sugar
1 c. sour cream (8 oz.)
3/4 c. vegetable oil
3/4 c. water
1 c. mini-semisweet chocolate chips
6 squares white baking chocolate (1 oz. each)
In a mixing bowl, combine dry cake mix, pudding mix, and sugar. Add the sour cream, oil and water; mix well. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in chocolate chips. Pour into a greased and floured (it has to be VERY well greased and floured or I use “Cake Release style Pam” which also works really well) 12-cup bundt pan (the smaller bundt pans are not large enough and the cake will spill over. If you have a smaller pan, pour a cup or two of the batter into a seperate Pyrex bowl and bake an extra mini cake!). Bake at 350° for 50-55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean (sometimes longer, just keep checking). Cool for 10 minutes; remove from pan to a wire rack to cool completely. In a microwave or double boiler, melt the white chocolate; drizzle over cake. (I put the chocolate squares in a ziplock bag in the microwave. Mush the chocolate around every 30 seconds to make sure it soesnt burn until it is fully melted. then snip a small corner of the bag off and drizzle.) Yield: 12-16 servings.
I couldn’t have pulled off the evening without these ladies! Thank you!
